This morning as I was driving home from dropping my son off, I was impressed to stop at the post office. I tried to think of what would be coming and couldn’t think of anything. It was cold and I just wanted to go home. I opened our box and there was…...nothing. I thought it strange that I had such a strong impression. As I was walking out, the postman was raising the flag. He didn’t know anyone was watching, but still performed the ceremony with great respect. I was able to stand and watch as it rose. When he was done, he turned and noticed me standing there, and said, “and so begins another day.” I was grateful to be able to have that small moment where I realized that with all the turmoil in the world, there is still an opportunity to reflect on how blessed we are to have the heritage we do, and for those that made it possible. I was grateful for another day.
