I cannot recommend this book enough. Please don't do what I did and wait years to read it. This book has soul, food, soul food, :) history, genealogy, a search for identity and belonging, and takes you around the world as a new people and culture was created in the midst of the atrocities of slavery. It is at once heart-wrenching and jubilant.
