Canada Permanent Residence

A Canadian Permanent Resident is someone who can lawfully live in Canada but is not a native Canadian citizen. A permanent resident is someone who has been granted permanent resident status after moving to Canada but is not a citizen of Canada. Permanent residents are foreign nationals.

A temporary resident in Canada, such as a student or foreign worker, is not a permanent resident.

Resettled refugees from other countries become permanent residents via the Government-Assisted Refugee Program or the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program. When a person files a refugee claim in Canada, they do not become a permanent resident. To become one, their claim must first be approved by the Immigration and Refugee Board. Then they must apply for and get permanent residence status.

Canada Permanent Residence Benefits

With permanent residency, you have the legal right to live and work anywhere in Canada for as long as you like. You can change jobs, travel across provinces, and sponsor your spouse, partner, and dependant children to join you - but you may not need to sponsor them at all, since many PR immigration programs enable you to bring your family with you when you apply!

Permanent residence status does not expire either. You can stay in the country as a permanent resident for as long as you like. But! To keep your status, you must live in Canada for at least two out of every five years. If you stay for three out of five years, you will be entitled to apply for Canadian citizenship, which would grant you the legal ability to vote and run for political office if you so want.

In Canada, there are work possibilities in a variety of areas, including significant demand in the oil and gas industry, as well as healthcare, infrastructure, and construction. However, in recent years, Canada has gained widespread recognition as a thriving hub for tech talent, with the Canadian region of Toronto recently winning the distinction of North America's fastest expanding tech hub, overtaking even Silicon Valley. There are yet a lot of many good things about Canada- like safety, inclusivity, society, culture, health, greenery, medical, etc.

Several variables can influence processing time, including:

  • additional elements
