SUU Stay Safe Pledge

Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Do Your Part.

In this extraordinary time of a global pandemic, we will take responsibility for ourselves and each other. We will work together. We will rise to the occasion. We will take the necessary steps to keep each other safe. And we will not put ourselves or others at risk.

As campus reopens this fall semester, we will embrace and adapt new practices for our living, socializing, learning, and working environment. At the core of these practices is protecting the health and safety of every campus community memeber so we can remain open for face-to-face instruction.

As members of the SUU community, we will take an active role in promoting the safety, health, and well being of every campus community member. We will abide by all health and safety directives from federal, state, local, and University officials and encourage others to do the same.

As members of the SUU community, we are committed to keeping ourselves and the SUU community healthy and safe from the spread of COVID-19 and pledge to take the following actions:

Monitor health on a daily basis for symptoms of COVID-19 and notify SUU using the online reporting form if I test positive.
Fully and honestly participate in contact tracing.
Adhere to all directives and University guidance if I need to be quarantined or isolate.
Properly wear a mask or face covering when indoors and outside when unable to maintain a 6 foot distance from others.
Maintain 6 feet of distance from others when possible.
If gathering with people outside, practice social distancing and limit gatherings to small groups.
Do not attend classes or participate in extracurricular activities if exhibiting any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, are awaiting test results, or for the recommended time period after testing positive for the virus.
Wash hands regularly.
Regularly wipe down high-touch surfaces.
Limit unnecessary travel outside of Utah and avoid locations with significant cases.
Get a flu vaccine each fall.
Get a COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available.
Follow any new directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Utah State, and Local Public Health Department Officials. The safety of our community is a shared responsibility, and our actions can put ourselves and others at risk. We understand that whether or not we take this pledge, failure to comply with these directives may result in students being referred to the Dean of Students Office for violation of the Code of Student Conduct and employees being referred to supervisors and Human Resources. We recognize that some students and employees are not able to meet these criteria due to other medical conditions. These individuals should work with their health care provider and the appropriate offices on campus to adopt strategies that keep them and others on campus safe."
