Your Child. Your Responsibility! When a child is born, its parents are faced with an incredible responsibility, which can be stated as, “What choices will we make to shape and guide this child’s future?” To make it more personal, what choices have I (or we), made that will have a major impact on my / our children’s future? Remember, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, and Judas had parents. Also remember that Joseph, Daniel, Moses, and Jesus had parents too. Yes, there are times when a child will go his or her own way regardless. However, the main influencer in a child’s life during their formative years will typically be their parents…. …unless… The parents abdicate, or neglect their responsibility to guide and strengthen their children for today’s impact. The importance of accepting this responsibility is greater today, than ever before. I would say that it is critical. If it is true that a nation is built upon the character of its people, then it is also true that parents hold the key to our future, and that they have their hands on the wheel of our tomorrow. The question is how will they turn the wheel? To the left or to the right? Towards conscience and integrity, or towards deception and chaos? We would never put an untrained person at the wheel of a ship. Yet, we thrown parents (by the millions), into parenting at the wheel of our nation! We need to become smarter and wiser parents.
