The basic nature of an entrepreneur is to go against the flow of conventional thinking. This includes saying no to ideas such as...

"It's risky!"

"You must get a job ... (or you will starve and die!)"

"That can't be done!"

"It's been tried before and it did not work!"

Etc.

Going against the flow of conventional thinking means challenging given concepts, entering new territory, expanding one's thinking and much more. This new territory is is where the greatest opportunities are. This is where great discoveries are made - not in the conventional, but in the unconventional.

This is what we at The Next Sky are all about - building the unconventional in beautiful new ways.

Your Child. Your Responsibility!

When a child is born, its parents are faced with an incredible responsibility, which can be stated as, “What choices will we make to shape and guide this child’s future?”

To make it more personal, what choices have I (or we), made that will have a major impact on my / our children’s future?

Remember, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, and Judas had parents.

Also remember that Joseph, Daniel, Moses, and Jesus had parents too.

Yes, there are times when a child will go his or her own way regardless.

However, the main influencer in a child’s life during their formative years will typically be their parents….

…unless…

The parents abdicate, or neglect their responsibility to guide and strengthen their children for today’s impact.

The importance of accepting this responsibility is greater today, than ever before.

I would say that it is critical.

If it is true that a nation is built upon the character of its people, then it is also true that parents hold the key to our future, and that they have their hands on the wheel of our tomorrow.

The question is how will they turn the wheel?

To the left or to the right?

Towards conscience and integrity, or towards deception and chaos?

We would never put an untrained person at the wheel of a ship.

Yet, we thrown parents (by the millions), into parenting at the wheel of our nation!

We need to become smarter and wiser parents.

What does it take to build a strong nation?

Politicians will tell you that they are all important, because they govern the nation.

But, what if they are corrupt?

What if they turn against the very people who voted them into power?

We have a political process that is supposed to deal with such characters. However, as we all know, the process is flawed, very cumbersome, and bringing about real change in this arena is extremely expensive and all-consuming.

Many have fought their battles, lost, and died on the political hill.

So, how can one build a strong nation?

A house is built with bricks. The bricks represent we the people.

The bricks are laid on a foundation. This represents our character and virtues.

A wise architect lays out a plan, and skilled craftsmen ensure that each brick is carefully laid in place, and made strong by being bonded to its neighbors. This represents communities working together with wisdom, focus and purpose.

If this simple formula is followed, the house will be perfected and made strong. Then the next house, and the next, and so on...

So, how do we build a strong nation?

Start with building strong bricks.

The power belongs to "we the people," but, only when we embrace it with love, wisdom, and practical strategy in order to form communities that stand strong, on a foundation of value and virtue.

So, the question is, how do we achieve this?

"Above all get wisdom. And with all your strength, gain understanding." - Solomon Proverbs 4:7.

How can we change America?We cannot become something we are not within our own self.

We cannot hope for peace we do not have.

A strong nation is built on a foundation of prosperous people.

A strong house is built on a strong foundation with strong ingredients; strong bricks, strong mortar, and a suitable wise plan.

The parable of the mouse and the elephant.

Imagine a mouse and an elephant in the same room together. The mouse squeaks and the elephants runs for the corner, shaking in fear. The mouse says, "You are mine, and you will do as I say!"

The elephant says, "OK!"

The silent and passive majority is the elephant in the room.

The thinking of this silent majority is, "If we say they are bad, we are good. If we complain about evil, maybe it will go away. If I obey the mouse, maybe it will leave me alone."

Such elephants will never walk in their own true strength, and their lot will be to be enslaved to evil mice.

Why do elephants give up their power?
