The New York Yankees "recently requested medical information" regarding the free agent player Jacob deGrom, according to Andy Martino of SNY.

Although it doesn't mean that there will be a Yankees in pursuit of deGrom in the free market, Martino added that they were among five teams to ask for his medical records so far.

The 34-year-old deGrom was a part of the initial 9 years in his MLB career with the New York Mets and won two Cy Young awards along the course, is one of the best players available in free agency. He is probably the best pitcher and Justin Verlander is also making a convincing argument.

There are some concerns. The injuries he sustained limited him to 26 total games over the past two seasons which makes his medical history vital to prospective players.

When he's been fit and has been productive. The 2022 season ended 5-4, with an 3.08 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 102 strikeouts over 62.1 innings. He was on track for an incredible campaign for 2021 (7-2, 1.08 ERA, 0.55 WHIP with 146 strikeouts across the 92-inning season) before an inflammation and strain reaction to his shoulder cut him short.

His injury and age might limit his market but players with his ability to dominate the market don't frequently sign free-agent contracts. His market will be booming.
