In general, hot melt adhesive films are categorized based on their composition, color, and whether or not they have tape or non tape release paper. The characteristics of various hot melt adhesive films will be discussed one at a time in the following paragraphs in order of increasing specificity.
Classification I: hot-melt adhesive film made up of a variety of different ingredients
In accordance with the composition, the hot-melt adhesive film can be broken down into TPU hot-melt adhesive film, pes hot melt adhesive film manufacturer, EVA hot-melt adhesive film, PA hot-melt adhesive film, PO hot-melt adhesive film, and EAA hot-melt adhesive film.

It has excellent resistance to being washed away by water and has good adhesion to polyester cloth, polyester film, sponge, rubber, and metal, in addition to other materials.
The vinyl acetate copolymer, which has a color similar to that of clear water, is the primary component of the EVA hot melt adhesive film. However, after use the color of the adhesive film will change to clear, it will become elastic, and it will have a low melting point of approximately 70 degrees Celsius. EVA has a relatively limited range of applications, but its ability to adhere to a wide variety of fabrics is very consistent across the board. It is possible to use it in materials such as polypropylene, EVA foam, XPE, wood paper, some types of rubber, and other materials; it is also possible to use it in home building materials and handicrafts. Additionally, it is possible to use it in products such as mounting and wall cloth.
The copolyamide that makes up the PA hot melt adhesive film is colorless and inelastic, and its composition is what gives the film its transparent appearance. The melting range is approximately 125 to 135 degrees Celsius, and it is suitable for melting a wide variety of materials including cloth, sponge, film, rubber, and others. There is a decreased need for the use of PA hot-melt adhesive film. The primary reason for this is that the cost of the raw materials is high. It has excellent bonding properties to materials such as cloth; however, it is being replaced by Low-melting point TPU adhesive film due to its own lack of elasticity and cost. This is the case even though it has excellent bonding properties to materials such as cloth.
The polyolefin that makes up the PO hot-melt adhesive film is colorless and inelastic, and its component, polyolefin, has a transparent appearance. Temperatures between 95 and 105 degrees Celsius are needed for melting. Fabric, film, leather, and even metal are some of the things that can be bonded with its help. It has a certain market in embroidery trademarks, clothing, and other fields, and the cost is not particularly high.
The EAA hot-melt adhesive film is made of a copolymer that consists of acetic acid and acrylic acid. It is white in color, has a translucent appearance, and possesses no elasticity. It is effective in bonding materials made of cloth as well as metal. This hot-melt adhesive film is currently used in the market only sporadically as of right now.
Classification II: The classification of hot-melt adhesive films according to their various hues
Transparent, white translucent, milky white, and black make up the primary subcategories of the color classification system. The hot melt adhesive film that is milky white is made entirely of PES, while the hot melt adhesive film that is black is made entirely of TPU. The pigment that is added to the formula is what gives the colored adhesive film its color; the color of the raw material itself does not play a role in its creation. In addition, there is a smaller demand in the market for colored adhesive film, which results in the specification being relatively uniform. The colors of the various components give transparent and white translucent their distinguishing characteristics. Hot-melt adhesive films that are transparent include high-temperature TPU, PA, and PO hot-melt adhesive films. Hot-melt adhesive films that are semi-translucent and translucent include low-temperature TPU, PES, EVA, and EAA.
Classification III: hot-melt adhesive film with backing paper but without a substrate
In the classification of hot-melt adhesive film, in addition to the classification based on composition and color, there is also a distinction between paper with release and paper without release. This distinction is made within the context of the classification of hot-melt adhesive film. The hot-melt adhesive film of paper with release is also referred to as hot-melt adhesive film with backing paper. Backing paper is comprised of release paper as well as release film. The hot-melt adhesive film of paper without release is also referred to as substrate free hot-melt adhesive film. The different applications that are possible with tape release paper and non-release paper constitute the primary distinction between the two types of paper. It is recommended that you use the hot melt adhesive film of the non tape release paper when you plan to fit the whole cloth or other materials, for instance. This is because hot melt adhesive film is more flexible than tape release paper. If you place the hot melt adhesive film in between two layers of material, you will be able to combine all three layers of material at once, which is not only efficient but also convenient;It is recommended that you use the hot melt adhesive film with release paper when you plan to only make clothes and only use hot melt adhesive film for bonding.
This is because you can first heat one side of the release paper to press the hot melt adhesive film onto the material to be bonded on one side, then cut the shape, wait for the release paper to cool, and then perform the secondary bonding. When you only plan to use hot melt adhesive film for bonding, it is recommended that you use the hot melt adhesive film with release paper. Cutting and positioning are both made easier as a result of this.
